You maybe aware that New Zealand is currently experiencing the effects of a global veterinarian shortage which is impacting all veterinary businesses including Vetora BOP. For us to continue to offer the best possible care for your pets, we need to look after our staff who are doing their best to look after you.
Provision of an on-call veterinarian after-hours emergency service for small animals is currently offered following a normal day’s work which in itself is demanding. If on-call, your vet will often receive multiple calls at any hour of the night and be expected to front up to work the next day ready to tackle any task that may come through the door. For us to continue to provide the best possible care for your pet, we need to ensure we also care for your vet.
This is proving a challenge with the current vet shortage, so we will be making changes to our Rotorua clinic opening hours, and to our Rotorua small animal after-hours service that we believe will provide you with a better standard of care overall.
As a result, we are extending our Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday Rotorua clinic hours, closing Sunday, and referring Rotorua small animal after-hours emergency calls to the Bay After Hours Veterinary Hospital based in Tauranga. Our Large Animal Farm service will continue to operate as normal.
Bay After Hours is a dedicated referral hospital with staff on-hand who are immediately available for weeknight and weekend small animal emergency veterinary services. With this specialist service for after-hours emergency calls, your pet will continue to receive the best care possible, whilst relieving our team of current demands.
